Pyrite is a iron sulfide mineral and is found worldwide but the most important deposits have been in Italy, Spain, and Peru. The name is derived from the greek word for fire because sparks are actually generated by striking pyrite together. The stone itself is so shiny  that ancient  incas actually used  pieces of pyrite as mirrors while the rest of the world has given it the name ‘fools gold.’ On a spiritual note pyrite is believed to enhance ones willpower to overcome bad habits and replace them with good ones.  It also gives one a boost for accomplishing challenging tasks, facing fears and taking action with confidence. The stone itself can be used during meditation for rebalancing and refreshing energy by holding a stone in each hand. Pyrite has the power to Create creativity in all people in all types of art and feeds qualities of ambition, commitment, and persistence.
